Saxon Court, Chippenham

Saxon Court is a new Barrett Homes development of one and two bedroom apartments, two bedroom maisonettes and three bedroom townhouses. Work on the development started in January 2005 and is scheduled to complete in December 2007.

The new development is located within the historic town of Chippenham which has a colourful history dating right back to Neolithic farming and today is one of the West Country’s most dynamic market towns. Architecturally it has embraced the old and the new with historic architectural gems situated cheek by jowl with modern shopping centres. In order for the new development to sit comfortably in Chippenham it was essential that the design and specification complemented the local architectural mix as well as the natural environment.

Commenting on the new development Lee Sharland from Sharland Roofing Ltd said, “We chose CUPA Natural Slate for this development because the local planners specified the use of a good quality Spanish product. CUPA Natural slate performs to a high standard and comes with excellent technical support. It also provides the perfect look for this particular development and sits well in the surrounding area.”

CUPA Slate is a natural product, which is extracted from its own quarries, hand split by skilled craftsmen and quality controlled at every level of the production process. CUPA 5 (500 x 250) was used on the development and is a pale grey slate with a riven surface, split into thicknesses of 5 mm.

CUPA employs a number of quality controls throughout the production process to maintain the high standard of the slate produced. Testing is undergone for compliance with the British and European Standards including BSEN 12326-2:2000 and the definitive and stringent french testing criteria. Before the slates are dispatched, they are classified by quality and type and then bar-coded and labelled so the history of the slate is recorded.

CUPA’s experience and quality of slate is recognised by the fact that one in every four slates used on roofs throughout the world is a CUPA slate. The 30-year guarantee is offered to all customers as a testament to the quality of the slate supplied and customer satisfaction.
