Cedar Park has been completed to the highest standard throughout, with stainless steel appliances, solid timber floors and natural slate roofing. Austen and Michael Gibbons of Gibbons Developments explain why CUPA Natural Slate was the perfect choice for the development, “Due to its exclusive location it was essential to design and finish the development to the highest standard, using natural materials wherever possible. Working closely with our local merchant, Western Slate & Stone Ltd., we were able to achieve roof finishes in high quality natural slate from Cupa. Our merchant devised a programme where we used a different slate on each house type, this resulted in a variety in character, which complemented the other exterior materials and beautiful surroundings”.
Cupa Heavy 3, a distinctive blue-black slate with a riven surface, was used at Cedar Park. Split into thicknesses of between 7-10mm, Heavy 3 slate is exceptionally hardwearing, being virtually impervious to the elements, and is ideally suited to Ireland's landscape and Atlantic climate.
Regularly specified for projects within conservation areas, national parks, heritage sites and areas of natural beauty, Cupa Heavy 3 was considered the ideal choice for Cedar Park.
Also used on the development was Cupa 5, a pale grey slate which is split to a thickness of 5mm. Cupa 5 is available in a variety of formats including square, rectangular, rounded and rustic and complies with British and European standards, including BS 680: Part 2.
To ensure the highest standard of slate is produced, a number of quality control tests are undergone at every level of the production process. Each crate of Cupa Natural Slate carries a unique barcode, which holds all the information an end user might need to know about the origin of the slate, the slate type, its dimensions and test results. As a testament to the quality of their and the company's commitment to customer satisfaction, Cupa offers its customers a 30-year guarantee on all slate
Cupa’s experience and the quality of its slate are recognised by the fact that around one in every four of the natural roofing slates specified around the world is crafted by Cupa.
